Kunye Sea delivers specialised offshore marine services aboard Vaquita, our purpose-built ocean-going research catamaran. Vessel Charter
Charter Vaquita and her experienced crew for a wide range of offshore operations beyond traditional survey work. The vessel is ideally suited for marine and environmental research support, ecological field studies, scientific expeditions, equipment testing and validation, as well as documentary filming and specialist training charters. Clients can bring their own personnel and equipment or take advantage of Kunye Sea's onboard expertise and survey capabilities to deliver a fully supported offshore solution.
Mapping & Survey
The vessel features a custom stainless-steel aft support frame fitted with an adjustable 70 mm transducer pole, deployable from 200 mm to 1 000 mm below the hull, designed to accommodate a wide range of survey equipment including multibeam sonar systems, sub-bottom profilers, and side-scan sonar arrays. A heavy-duty Runva 9 500 lbs electronic winch provides reliable handling of hydrographic equipment and tow systems such as side-scan arrays, magnetometers, and sampling gear, with lifting capacities of up to 1 300 kg.
Geotechnical Research
For geotechnical and sampling operations, Vaquita is equipped with a stainless-steel hydraulic winch system carrying 200 m of 6 mm stainless steel cable line, paired with a swivelling forward hoist capable of lifting up to 2 000 kg for sediment grabs and sample cradles. An integrated high-pressure saltwater wash-down system further enhances onboard operational efficiency. All hydraulic systems are powered directly from the port engine through an electromagnetic clutch, ensuring dependable offshore performance.
